The 3 Day

This past weekend I participated in The Seattle 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk. I joined a team from Ellensburg that consisted of six walkers and six crew members. I volunteered with one of the ARNPs that I used to work with on the Medical Crew. The whole weekend was an incredible experience. The walkers all raised over $2,200 each to participate to walk and overall the Seattle walk raised 8.6 million dollars to help fight breast cancer.
The walkers walked 60 miles over three days. I got to bandage feet and assess for things such as dehydration and hyponatremia.
It was a physically and emotionally exhausting weekend for everyone there, but it was very encouraging and a celebration of life. We slept in tents at Marymoor Park, the first night Fiona and I froze. So, the second night we layered all of the clothes we brought on and actually slept decent for the few hours we had to rest. I am already looking forward to next year even though the date is set for the first weekend in October. I can't imagine sleeping outside in Western Washington in October.

Phyllis is the mom of one of the girls I work with. This would have been her 5th year walking but she broke her ankle 6 weeks prior. Even though she could not walk she was an amazing team captain and an inspiration to all of us. Her husband was a good sport and put up with all of us girls for four days and drove around supporting the team.

Tonight we are packing. We fly out tomorrow for Minneapolis to visit Ben and Bethany then on to Chicago to see Jason and Sue. We are so excited to get to spend time with our siblings.

Tara and Eric's Wedding

We had another wedding this past weekend. We were happy to join Eric and Tara as they celebrated their marriage. I have been friends with Tara since we were little girls, it was fun to be with her on her wedding day, just like she was with us on ours.

The wedding location was at Albee Gardens in Olympia. It is such a perfect location for an outdoor wedding, I recommended it if anyone is looking for a place.

We have more busy days ahead of us. Coming up next week I am volunteering at the 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk in Seattle. Then back to work for two days before we leave for Minneapolis to visit Ben and Bethany, then on to Chicago to see Jason and Sue. Busy times ahead, but we are looking forward to it all.
